Weekend News

Colby - I play my mom. I got hair cut. I go the place and cut hair. I play my baby.

Simone - I play in my room. I went downstairs and play monsters. I go to a Halloween and we walk up and down street. Someone give candy and I get 100 candy. I took off my costume and go the living room.

Finley - I built a new lego truck. I play with my mom and dad. I lost my dis cause it went in someone back yard. I go get it but the dogs were barking loud. I also did some coloring. I color my Paw Patrol stuff. I play tag with my Babcia's dog. His name is Little Blue. I did some chores and play with legos that go with the big truck.

Aya - I watch my i-pad. I go to Aunty Lena's house. Her last name is boots. I got a cookie ice cream at Aunty Lena's house. I had sleep over there. I go my mom-mom's house too.

Grant - I play King Kong Clarke. I watch incredible Hulk. I play toys living room.

Evie - I put my shoes and then go outside. I ask my mom if I go with Adelaide get in my seat.

Renata - I got candy and it was so yummy. The yellow one was yummy but the pink one was more yummy. I just play with my baby. I went to the farm and go on a hayride. I went in corn and it was so spooky. I eat broccoli and pasta at my house and I did nothing else.

Elliott - I play soccer with my teammates. It was real soccer. I went to the farm. I went on a train and a tracker but not a real train. I go on a trampoline. I get a stuffy and the person stuff the stuffy at the store. Last night we went to Pearl's house. We did hair, we wash our hair at my house.

Lila - I went to Nana's house on Sunday and we made cookies. We watch the Eagles game but we didn't see mommy and daddy. They were at the tailgate game and there were lot of people and we didn't see their seats. On Saturday it was a busy day. We went to dance and it was costume day. I was Elsa. After that my friend Liv come over. She is my neighbor. We color at my house. I ate lunch with mommy, daddy and Nora. We went to the pumpkin patch and we actually went on a hayride. The tractor was full with hay and we sit on the hay. I paint my pumpkin in the basement at my house.

Lake - I play tag with mommy. I make a bracelet with my mommy. I play in my room and I play downstairs. Daddy carry me down the steps. I have big piece cardboard in my room. I play with it.

Masai - I was downstairs at my house. I was jumping on pillows that my dad made for me. I was watching Super Kitty. We were going back and forth me and my sister. We got pizza that had ham and pineapple. I went upstairs and I was building in my room. I was sleeping with my sister. I was doing more things but I can't remember more.

Logan - My mom did my hair. I went to the store and get my costume. I be Cheerleader at Halloween. I go to my aunty's house and my grandma's house.

Art Class with Johanna -

Johanna introduced stencil to our Cardinals. Soon it was time to test out the many ways to create with stencils. Friends used white paper, different kinds of stencils, water soluble crayons, water and paint brushes. The Cardinals created with crayons and stencils. They then use the paint brushes to dip in water and paint over their creations. Ask your Cardinal what did you created in art class?

During our snack time, the fire alarm went off for an unannounced practice fire drill. Our Cardinals were engaged in a consistent part of our daily routine. Friends were having conversations and playing (eye spy) as they ate. The teachers looked at each other and then got into action. One teacher told the Cardinals, "Everything is okay, please go to the back door." The other teacher got our emergency bag, closed the inner classroom door and turned out the lights. Meanwhile, a teacher had already begun leading friends out the back door. The Cardinal class was the second class in lower school to get outside and to the grassy area! Our INCREDIBLE Cardinal did an amazing job following directions and got outside quickly. As we got to our spot outside, a friend said, "It's a practice fire drill, right?" Another friend said, "I don't see smoke." Yet another friend said, "The fire truck not coming?. A teacher explained that there was no fire. We were practicing so we know what to do. A friend noticed a bird's nest in a tree and pointed it out. While looking up, we saw a Vulture. Back inside, friends continued eating their snack, talking and playing eye spy!!

Tuesday

Spanish Class with Alicia -

Today the Cardinals continued their learning of colors in Spanish with a twist. Alicia introduced the game twister and showed friends how it's played. During the game the colors to put your hands or feet on were called out in Spanish. The Cardinal had lots of fun and many giggles could be heard as the games unfolded!! Friend worked four in a group with three boards. Ask your Cardinal to tell you a color or three in Spanish? Today it was Elliott's turn to squeeze la vaca!

The Cardinals request many read aloud today!! After reading 6 books. We read Peace by Todd Parr. After this book, we asked friends, "What Makes You Peaceful?" Here is what friends had to say:

Wednesday

Friends playing a game of Snail Pace!!

Our older lower school students are paired with our younger students by class throughout lower school. The Cardinals are paired with Danielle and Mindy's second grade class. We will get together for special occasions such as Meeting for Worship, community time, projects and many more! Today, our second grade partners came to our classroom and had meeting for worship with us! We all went around the circle and said our name and favorite color! Followed by taking deep breaths before settling into silence. After our meeting for worship. Second graders build, draw, had conversations, play and read books to us! Our Cardinals and the second graders enjoyed their time together!

Library Class with Ashanti and Michelle -

Ashanti read the books At the End of the Day by Lisl H. Detlefsen and Sophie's Squash by Pat Zietlow & Anne Wilsdorf

Ashanti asked each friend, "At the end of the day when school is over what do you do?" Here is what our Cardinals had to say:

Finley - When I get home I watch some tv.

Simone - Sometimes when I get home I listen to the song I dream a dream.

Logan - Sometimes, I take a bath first and then play with my baby sister.

Evie - I go outside and get in my car and go home.

Aya - I eat dinner at my house and go to sleep.

Renata - When I get home I watch to see if there's rainbow in the sky cause it's always raining at my house.

Elliott - I play in my garage.

Masai - I get pizza and I go downstairs and play then I go to sleep.

Colby - I see my baby and play my toys.

Lila - We eat dinner and sometimes have a dance play then get a shower and go to bed.

Lake - I play with my toys and baby sister. I try to make her laugh and it never works. I play in my room.

Music Class with Keisha -

Lake led us into music class. Friends warmed up by dancing with scarves and egg shakers as they listened to Broken Piano by Ben Folds. Followed by friends singing our hello song Jambo. We also sang and did the movements to Bell horses, Jack in the box, Ponies and Peace like a river! Keisha told the Cardinals they did a great job! The Cardinals gave themselves the "Faaaaannnntastic" fan and gave each other Shine for such a fabulous class! The class ended with friends singing along to "Goodbye - See You Next Time!" Thursday

Friends having conversations, creating masterpieces, role playing, cooking and having birthday parties, negotiating, turn taking and problem solving all while having fun!!

Gym Class with Tiffany -

The Cardinals rotated through three stations (1) standing inside of hula hoops and walking it around the room, (2) using soft balls to throw up and catch (3) balance a bean bag on feet, hands, head or shoulders while walking. Friends then did another activity of catching fish or sea creatures to put in a tank. On a wall in the extended space downstairs is a mural of an ocean scene. Friends used this wall to throw a ball at a fish or creature and then run to put it in the tank! Ask your Cardinal what did you do in gym class today?

Friday

Friends were overheard having many conversations this morning as they enjoyed coming to school all dressed up!! The Cardinals had much fun taking part in our Harvest Fest activities and playing on the playground was such a highlight!!

We also enjoyed and appreciated our special snack which was organized by our Home and school parents and provided by our Cardinal parents! Thank you all very much!!
