In art class, Johanna taught us about using texture in our artwork. We conducted an exploration using bubble wrap to create different shapes and textures. Friends used markers on the bubble wrap and then stamped them onto paper. We discovered what kinds of texture were transferred onto our paper and how large bubble wrap created balloon shapes while small bubble wrap created little clusters of bubbles.

Tuesday

Spanish class began with Alicia greeting each Cardinals. Friends responded in Spanish and then told Alicia what animal they are studying! The Cardinals asked to count all the numbers from 1-106 in Spanish. Alicia then read us the book Molly's Tuxedo by Vicki Johnson. Today it was Evie's turn to squeeze la vaca!

Thursday

The first graders are presently studying Heroes. Each student chose a hero (person) and along with their study, they made that person into a stamp for their post office part of their hero's museum. Each stamp cost 10 cents. At the end of their study, first graders will count the money and donate it to an organization of their choosing! The stamps the Cardinals buy will be used to put on letters they gave dictation for or received help to write words for letters to second grade buddies/people of their choosing in school!

Our focus in gym class today was on team building. Friends played Pop up Tag in which some friends bent down. Other friends tap them on the shoulder. The tap friends then chase friends to tag them. Followed by the Cardinals stacking cups to create a tower and using a foam ball to knock them down.

After rest time, each Cardinal got 10 cents to choose and buy a stamp from the first graders.  Back in our classroom, friends placed their stamp on their letter. Soon, it was time to take our letters to the first grade mailbox and off went the letters to our second grade buddies and others!!

Friday

The Cardinals began Spanish class with Alicia greeting us at the door! Today we finished learning about clothing in Spanish. Alicia made and gave each Cardinal a coloring book. Today was Aya's turn to squeeze la vaca!

Keisha rescheduled our music class for today. Colby led us in! Followed by friends dancing and warming up with scarves, shaker eggs and playing the drums as we listened to Dinosaur Stomp. Followed by Mother Sarah and more of our favorite songs!
