Monday
Spring Break News
Aya - I was playing with my dolls. I go to my grandma's and I ate a popsicle. I play with my brother.
Nat - My go outside with mommy. My play with my toys. My go to bed and then it was morning time and my go outside and play again. My walk on the ceiling. My eat toast and toast had butter.
Evie - I play my sister and my mom. I was the puppy and my sister was the transformer and my mom was just mom.
Renata - I go on a plane to the beach house, it's in Florida. I splash in the pool. We went down to the beach and even at night. The water came up farther at night. The moon control the water at night. I see ants and lizards crawling around. I pet a lizard on the tail. I also saw a turtle.
Elliott - I had my baby sister. She does cry a lot and she get her diaper change. I go to the hospital and see her. I went to bike parks with my mom and dad. I go to my cousin's birthday party over Spring break.
Lila - I went to Naples Florida on the airplane. I sit at the window on the way there and my sister was at the window on the way back. I play in the hot tub. I learn how to swim and I swim all the way across the pool. I went to a restaurant. I have two cupcakes for dad and aunt Sam's birthday. I got a taboo from uncle Adam. I went to a Easter egg hunt in Jenkintown. I saw the train going. I play the game high, low rhino.
Lake - I saw my cousin and we go the park. We went to my auntie's and we play and make a gingerbread house. I went to the donut shop and I got munchkins.
Masai - I went to Miami in a plane. It was Florida and I go in the hot tub. I even went in the pool. I got some ice cream and a pineapple smoothie and my sister got a strawberry smoothie. I went to aunty Danielle's wedding. I even had cookies and ice cream. I even found one gem stone.
Logan - I went to my grandma and I was playing. I was watching tv. I was chilling with my mommy. I was jumping around.
The Cardinals were very excited to see and be with each other today after returning from Spring break. Friends worked on a journal titled, "What did you do over Spring Break?"
Spanish Class
Alicia began class by greeting friends at the door, each Cardinal independently called out the next number in correct order before walking into Spanish class as Alicia started with uno! What an excellent job our Cardinals did! Followed by having our moment of silence, calendar and hundred chart work! Alicia recapped the Spanish names for body parts of some animals, then each friend got a chance two at a time to play a game of swatter. Today it was Elliott's turn to squeeze la vaca!
What a nice day for a picnic lunch outside!!
Wednesday
The Cardinals shared Meeting for Worship with their second grade buddies in our classroom as it's the first Wednesday of the month. Danielle read us the book, I am Peace. After the book Danielle asked the question, "If you get frustrated what strategies would you use to calm down?" Here are some of friends thoughts: take a walk, take elevator breaths, listen to strategy by Demon Hunter, tell someone, drawing, scream, stomp my foot, play with my toys, close your eyes and think of something happy, take deep breath with your mom and dad.
Danielle then ask, "What is peace to you?" Here's some of what friends had to say: cleaning-up trash cause it's taking care of earth, make space for other people, share self with others, everyone has a home, helping people, take care of animals, everyone has food, cleaning my room, be kind to everyone, make someone happy and sharing. At the end, our second grade buddies sang us Make New Friend and we sang then Tis A Gift To Be Simple. Ask your Cardinal to sing you Tis A Gift To Be Simple! Friends also had some time to have conversations with their buddies!
Library Class
Ashanti read us the books Three Bears and A Boat by David Soman and What Happened to You by James Catchpole. Friends then chose and checked out a book! Ask your Cardinal why did you choose your book?
Music Class
Lila led us into the music room. We listened to and danced to Angelina Zuma Zuma by Louis Parma. Friends warmed up their singing voices by using a hooty voice before singing Jambo as Keisha played her guitar. The class then went over to the white board. Keisha did a recap of what we have been working on such as Ta, Tee and Rest. The Cardinals did a great job of remembering!! Friends then work together to compost music with Keisha's guidance!! Friends gave music notes. Follow by using sticks to tap out the music notes on the white board. We finished up class by singing our goodbye song! Ask your Cardinal how did you make music today?
Thursday
Friends working on their April self-portraits!
Gym Class
Today we worked on following verbal directions. Friends were directed to choose a hula hoop and then find that color bean bag under buckets. Friends then ran their color bean bag back to the hula hoop. After running back and forth several times. Each Cardinal counted how many bean bags they collected. Next, it was time for a game of tag. Friends enjoyed running around giggling and having fun. Ask your Cardinal what did you do in gym class.
Friday
Spanish Class
Today we worked more on identifying animal's body parts with Alicia. A few friends took turns being the teacher and called out body parts in Spanish for Alicia to identify. Afterward, Alicia asked each Cardinal to pick a card and tell her in Spanish what it is as we clean up! Alicia told friends how impressed she is with their work and that she can't wait to continue this learning! Friends then took part in a Camina activity! Today it was Lake's turn to squeeze la vaca!
