In Spanish class with Alicia, we listened to the book My body (Mi Cuerpo). Alicia then began to teach us the Spanish words for some of our body parts such as        cabeza (head), hombro (shoulders), rodillas (knees), dos pies (two feet), nariz (nose), orejas (ears) and ojos (eyes). She then did the head, shoulders, knees and toes song with the Cardinals. Followed by doing Camina  Camina (Walk walk) where friends walked around the classroom until Alicia said para (stop). Alicia then called out a body part in Spanish and touched that body part to give friends a clue! Friends tried to say the body part in Spanish with Alicia's help!! We ended class by singing our adios (goodbye) song and today it was Masai's turn to squeeze la vaca.

Today we celebrated Lila's 5th birthday!! She brought in rice crispy treats to share with her friends! Lila, thank you for sharing your special day with us!! We hope you had a fabulous rest of your birthday!!

Wednesday

The Cardinals had Meeting for Worship in the extended day space with the Catbirds and Hummingbirds classes. We all settled into silence (great job friends!!). Followed by a teacher reading the book called Somewhere Today by Shelly Moore Thomas. The book was about some of the simple ways in which any child or adult can make the world a better place!

After we returned to our classroom, a teacher read the book again. We asked our Cardinals, "How can you help someone or the world?" Here is what friends had to say:

Simone - If the sky fall down. I would put it back up with a ladder so people don't get hurt.

Aya -  I would cook to help people.

Logan - I would be helpful by making food and make sure they don't get hurt.

Elliott -  I plant a tree cause if a tree tips over. I would plant another one.

Lila -  I would help people not get sick by taking care of them.

Renata - I would take care of people and give them a hug if they are sad.

Colby -  I sing songs.

Lake - I will be a police to help people.

Finley -  I would plant new flowers cause my mom loves flowers.

Grant - I would let them play me.

Masai -  I would help people with their food. I help them make pictures if they don't know how to do it.

Ashanti read us the books Miss Nelson is Missing! by James Marshall and It Fell From The Sky by The Fan Brothers.  Ask your Cardinal why did you choose your book?

Renata led us into music class. The Cardinals listen/sing the song Golden by K-pop as they warm up/dance with scarves and egg shakers. We warmed our voices by using Hootie the owl tone of voice. We sang a few of our favorite songs. Followed by Keisha reading the book, The Animal Boogie and we began to practice acting out each animal while using a singing voice. After singing our goodbye song "See you next time", it was time to head outside for some large motor fun and unstructured exploration!!

Thursday

                                          Choice Time

The Cardinals continued their journal work.

The Cardinals explored focusing and catching skills in gym class. Friends were instructed to get a ball and a scooper. Josh and Tiffany then demonstrated how the Cardinals might practice tossing the ball and catching it. After we practiced our catching, Josh and Tiffany challenged the Cardinals to scoop the ball into the scooper as the ball bounced on the ground. The Cardinals enjoyed the challenge. Our gym teachers ended class by telling knock-knock jokes. Ask your Cardinal to tell you a joke!

                                        Outdoor fun!!

Friday

Friends began class by reviewing the colors in Spanish. Our Cardinals were incredible as they sang the song below by themselves to Alicia! Wonderful job, Cardinals!! Alicia told our Cardinals they were, "So amazing!" The song has the same tune to the song Are You Sleeping.

Here is how the song goes!

Red is rojo

Green is verde

Blue azul

Black negro

yellow is amarillo

purple morado

gray is gris

brown café

We continued class by playing a game of swatter with the pictures of our body parts! Today it was Masai 's turn to squeezed la vaca!

Today, our second grade partners came to visit. They built, drew/created, had conversations, played and read books to us! We ended our time together with a dance party!! What a fun time we all had!
