Art Class
The Cardinals began with Johanna asking: what do you like on your pizza? Followed by what colors represent different pizza toppings. Red for sauce, yellow for cheese, black for olives, green for peppers, red for pepperoni and so on. The Cardinals were then tasked with shopping for their pizza supplies, and finally creating their own pizza. Friends ripped their papers in different sizes and shapes to create a pizza for their families! YUM!
The Cardinals work on math in groups of 4 or 3. Friends worked on number recognition, counting the number of objects connected to a number, with number puzzles and writing numbers.
Tuesday
Spanish Class
The Cardinals counted from Uno - Doce as they walked into the Spanish room. Alicia began her routine of "Good morning" and asking "How are you feeling?" in Spanish to each Cardinal. Example, Buenos días Logan, ¿Cómo estas? - then Logan answered "muy bien" - "very good or okay", or "Asi-asi" - "Not too good". We then began our moment of silence with Alicia tapped her singing bowl and the Cardinals settled their bodies. Today it was Colby's turn to squeeze la vaca!
In the middle of our silence the fire alarm went off. We assured friends that all was good and assumed it was an unannounced fire practice. We quietly and quickly went outside (what a nice warm day it was). We later learned that a minor incident occurred, hence the fire trucks. Most Cardinals were very excited to see the fire truck. We assured the other two friends while holding hands that we were safe outside.
The Cardinals were super super excited to visit the upper school's Stuffed Animal Clinic. We got to the Stewart Lobby and the upper school students were all set up and ready for us! There was a check-in station, nurse practitioners and doctors giving check-ups and referrals for surgery if needed. Surgeons were on hand to perform surgery (sewing) if needed. Friends even got stickers afterwards! The upper schooler put smiles on the Cardinals face as they fixed our stuffed animals for us. And yes, the Cardinals all showed their appreciation by saying thank you and giving hugs!
Friends enjoying the nice weather with their lovies!
Wednesday
Library Class
Friends listen attentively as Ashanti read us the books Your Birthday was the Best by Maggie Hutchings and Mr. S by Monica Arnaldo The Cardinals then choose and checked out books to bring back to our classroom!
Music Class
Evie led us into the music room. Friends danced with scarves, played shaker eggs and played the drums as they listened to Space Unicorn by Parry Cripp. Followed by friends singing and doing actions for Little wheel turning in my heart as Keisha played her guitar. Friends then worked on reading music notes and playing musical sticks as Keisha pointed to the notes on the white board. We also sing Mother Sarah with many movements. The Cardinals really enjoyed music class!
The Cardinal were enjoying a picnic lunch outside on this warm and sunny day. When all of a sudden it began to drizzle, friends thought this was funny eating in the rain. We quickly pack up and finish our lunch inside.
Outdoor fun!!
Thursday
Gym Class
The Cardinals cheered as they saw Josh in the gym! Today friends started class by getting a noodle and balancing it on a dot, if it began to fall, the goal was to catch it before it hit the floor. The next step was to balance the noodle in our hands, throw the noodle up and catch it, then throw it out away from their body. Followed by friends getting a chance to balance their noodles anyway they wanted! Next Josh explained the rule of playing pop-up tag. The Cardinals were eager to get started and off they went running, screaming and giggling!!
Friends rotate through stations as they build with cups, magnatiles, designer blocks or crystal connectors and painting with small brushes. Friends also made creations using paper, glue, markers and scissors!
Friday
Early this morning, the Cardinals attended our lower school assembly in the auditorium. Our current Kindergartners performed in their play on stage. Most of our Cardinals going to Kindergarten next year were very excited and talked about being in a play next year!
Back in our classroom Aya's mom Amanda and dad James came and read us the book, Learn More About Ramadan The book was about why fasting is a good thing - there's people in the world who do not have much to eat or less than we do. Thinking about others, sharing and being kind to others is a very important skill to learn from a young age and for adults to carry out as well.

Erica took a small group to work on literacy in her office. Kelia and I also worked on literacy with our other Cardinals. Friends worked on uppercase letter recognition and writing uppercase letters in random order. What a fun time friends had!!
