Weekend News
Nat - My play mommy and sister with mommy. My play outside. My play hide and seek inside. My bounce on couch. My play mom with my toys.
Evie - Momma put on my tattoo. I show my sister. My pink stuffy was downstairs in the playroom.
Renata - I got my nails and toes do at the salon for Aya's birthday. I also got pickles on my eyes and I got a facial. I got my hair done and my mom put a heart in my hair. I also put glow in dark nail polish on. I play with my baby brother.
Elliott - I practice at Quick ball. My two grand dads and grand moms came to Quick ball and to my home. I took some pictures at my house. I got a bunk bed at my house.
Lila - I went to Nana's house and I went to Haddy's birthday party. I saw a band playing. I got pizza. I had a egg hunt with Nana yesterday because I didn't get to come over on Easter. I got popsicles. Me and my sister play Castle and Knight.
Lake - I was playing with my mommy. We play hide and seek some much.
Masai - I went to my cousin's house. I did two treasure hunt. I went to James's birthday call Energy and got some new socks. I also went to hibachi. Then I go back to my cousin's house for two days. I go on a treasure hunt and we had paper and x marks the spot and we find treasure.
Logan - I went to Baltimore. I play with my cousins Jayla and Riley, and KK. I ate donuts with my sister. I went to the birthday party.
Colby - I had my daddy's birthday. I eat cupcakes. Tia take me birthday party. I go down the slide super fast.
Simone - I had bunch. I eat bagel with cream cheese and salmon. I got some ice cream. I saw the Stinky Cheeseman at the theater. I had a nap in the car. I was so tired that I could sleep more.
Finley - I play outside with my brother. I went to my uncle's house. I watch my uncle's trains.
Aya - I go my birthday party it was Glitter and Glam at the mall. I got skin care. I got some cucumber on my face and I also got paint on my nails and also my toes.
Art Class
Johanna began class by having friends take a close look at two pictures. Friends raised their hands and made compare and contract observations about the two pictures. Johanna then brought friends over to the table with pictures. She then asked friends to pick a picture of an animal and pretend the animal is your friend, (like the man and Tiger in the picture we were comparing). The Cardinals then went shopping for materials they wanted to use. Friends drew themselves and then used materials to create their animals.
Today we dyed our white t-shirts blue for our Spring Program!

Tuesday
Spanish Class
We continued our animal studies in Spanish by playing a round of the swatter game, racing to find the correct animal to match the word in Spanish. Then we played a game called Camina Camina (walk walk). We walked around the classroom until Alicia said "Para (stop)!" Then she calls out one of our animals study and we pretend to be that animal! Today it was Renata's turn to squeeze La Vaca.
Friends worked one on one with Carolina to start designing their Spring Program t-shirts!
We also continued working more on our animal habitats!
Wednesday
This morning we had our meeting for worship outside in front of lower school with our second grade buddies and the rest of lower school. We celebrated Earth Day which is today 4/22/26! We had our silences followed by ending with the Hummingbirds class singing, With My Own Two Hands. The Cardinal class also sang This Little Planet. Our Cardinals sang so beautifully, great job Cardinals! Ask your Cardinal to sing you This Pretty Planet?
Library Class
Today Ashanti read us the books Uncle John's City Garden by Bernette Ford and The Curious Garden by Peter Brown. These two books were connected to Earth Day and the Cardinals really enjoyed them!
Music Class
Nat led us into music class and we played the drums, danced with scarves while listening to Dinosaur Stomp by Laurie Barkner. We sang our hello song Jambo. Keisha then had the Cardinals clap the names of the animals they are studying to figure out how many claps are in the names. Friends then figured out what musical notes such as Te or Ta, we needed to complete this work. The Cardinals requested for their favorite music class movement songs such as Five Little Cow, Mother Sarah, Cobbler and Peek-a-boo. What a fun time!! We finished up class by singing our goodbye song!
Thursday
The Cardinals working on a journal entry titled, "What do you like to build with? Why?"
Gym Class
The Cardinals worked on developing balancing and teamwork skills, and counting by 5's as they managed a "tricky obstacle course". The triple pathed course required students to hop on dots, jump through hula-hoops, step across windy blocks, walk across balance beams, and challenge their eye hand coordination skills as they threw a ball into the pyramid of buckets. This activity culminated with friends counting by 5s to see how many balls the class sank into the buckets. Friends were thrilled to discover their grand total of 90!
Class wrapped up in a rousing game of "Komodo Dragon Tag", where students worked on sportsmanship and teamwork while tagging each other and simultaneously working as a team freeing classmates who had been tagged!
Today is Josh's birthday! The Cardinal sang him a nice Happy Birthday!! We hope you enjoy the rest of your special day, Josh!

Friday
Our week was such a busy one that we did not have time to create our own Earth on Earth Day! So today each Cardinal created their own Earth, which is now displayed by our classroom back door! Friends also worked with Erica, had free choice, played in our class sandbox and builded with our red cups! Then we had fun outside before the rain comes.
